NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Sports and Youth Services of the government of Maharashtra has awarded INR 10 lakhs to each Esports athlete of the state who represented India in the Asian Games 2022, held in Hangzhou. 

This is the first time any state has included Esports alongside mainstream sports in prize money rewards for its state players in a major tournament. The recipients of the monetary reward include Darshan Bata, captain of the DOTA 2 team, along with his teammates Krish Gupta, Ketan Goyal, and Shubham Goli, as well as League of Legends athlete Samarth Trivedi.

CUTTACK: The stage is set for the first-ever Khelo India University Games at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here on Saturday. As many as 3,400 athletes from 159 universities across the country will vie for top honours across 17 disciplines, including rugby which is among the six team events.

PANAJI: The official mascot of the much-delayed 36th National Games of India, Rubigula, Flame-Throated Bulbul, was unveiled here Saturday.  Non-completion of the requisite infrastructure in Goa had been one of the reasons behind the multiple delays in hosting the Games, the last edition of which was held in Jharkhand in 2011.

GUWAHATI: Assam's largest city bid farewell to the Khelo India Youth Games here Wednesday, crowning Maharashtra the unconquered champions during a power-packed and entertaining closing ceremony.   The defending champions romped to a whopping 256 medals, including 78 Gold and 77 Silver to again underline their pre-eminence in a multi-game event of this scale.

GUWAHATI: At the 3rd Khelo India Youth Games Assam 2020 here, 44 medals were at the stake on the concluding day Wednesday.  Punjab defeated Assam in boys under 21 football by 2 goals to nil. In weightlifting, Manipur's Martina won Gold. Haryana got 6 Golds in under-21 boxing. Ankushita Bodo of Assam won Gold.
