NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Sports and Youth Services of the government of Maharashtra has awarded INR 10 lakhs to each Esports athlete of the state who represented India in the Asian Games 2022, held in Hangzhou. 

This is the first time any state has included Esports alongside mainstream sports in prize money rewards for its state players in a major tournament. The recipients of the monetary reward include Darshan Bata, captain of the DOTA 2 team, along with his teammates Krish Gupta, Ketan Goyal, and Shubham Goli, as well as League of Legends athlete Samarth Trivedi.

DISPUR: The preparations for the third Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Guwahati from 10-22 January 2020 are being carried out in full swing.  Addressing the media, the CEO of the Games and Principal Secretary of Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Government of Assam, Avinash Joshi said that this is going to be the biggest sports event the country has ever witnessed.

LONDON: The Commonwealth Games Federation on Monday poured cold water on speculation doing the rounds that a Commonwealth Championship of shooting will be held in India during the 2022 Birmingham Games.   Talk of a CWG shooting championship had surfaced as a compromise solution to make up for the sport's axing from the multi-sport showpiece.

GUWAHATI: The third edition of the ambitious Khelo India Youth Games will take place on a larger and grander canvas in the picturesque locales of Guwahati, starting from January 10, 2020 and ending 13 days later. This was announced Sunday at the launch ceremony event, attended by Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju.

NEW DELHI: Shooting WILL NOT be added to the roster of the 2022 Birmingham Games despite Indian Olympic Association's boycott threat, a Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) official told PTI Thursday, ahead of a crucial meeting between the two sports bodies. CGF chief Louise Martin and CEO David Gevemberg will meet IOA chief Narinder Batra and secretary general Rajeev Mehta on Friday.

MUMBAI: Regional powerhouse India may not send teams for 10 out of 27 disciplines in the upcoming 13th South Asian Games in Nepal, which has seven nations participating. A two-day meeting of the participating nations took place in Kathmandu on Saturday and Sunday where the teams gave their preliminary lists of contingent sizes and disciplines.
