Tennis Premier League plans tournaments across Gujarat

As part of its drive to keep the tennis fraternity engaged, especially at the junior level, the Tennis Premier League (TPL) has started its initiative with the Gujarat State Tennis Association (GSTA) to have a series of tournaments across the State.

There will be tournaments in different cities and the winners will compete in the Masters event to be held in Ahmedabad. Boys and girls in the under-10, 12 and 14 age groups apart from men and women would stand to gain scholarships.

Davis Cup tie in Pak: Leander 'b' team non-playing captain
NEW DELHI: The All India Tennis Association has announced a 9-member "second string" squad for next month's Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group-I tie to be held in Islamabad on November 29-30 after the top stars, led by non-playing captain Mahesh Bhupathi, refused to travel to Pakistan.  The AITA sent a revised list to the Pakistan Tennis Federation on Thursday for the start of the visa process, News18 reports.

ATP appoints former player Gaudenzi as chairman
LONDON: The ATP has announced the appointment of former player Andrea Gaudenzi as ATP chairman for a four-year term, beginning 1 January 2020. The 46-year-old Italian will take over from Chris Kermode who will leave his position as ATP executive chairman and president at the end of the year.
