As part of its drive to keep the tennis fraternity engaged, especially at the junior level, the Tennis Premier League (TPL) has started its initiative with the Gujarat State Tennis Association (GSTA) to have a series of tournaments across the State.

There will be tournaments in different cities and the winners will compete in the Masters event to be held in Ahmedabad. Boys and girls in the under-10, 12 and 14 age groups apart from men and women would stand to gain scholarships.

MUMBAI: Tata Sons have struck a five year sponsorship deal with India’s only ATP event, which will now be called the Tata Open Maharashtra 2018. Adar Poonawalla has come in as presenting sponsor, using the January 1-6, 2018 tournament at the Balewadi sports complex to showcase the Clean City Initiative, reports The Hindu.

NEW YORK: E-commerce giant Amazon has reportedly secured five-year UK TV rights to the US Open, the last tennis grand slam of the year.  While the deal terms were not disclosed, UK media reports that Amazon paid about $40 million (£50m) for the rights. The latest acquisition buttresses Amazon’s £50m, five-year deal for the UK rights to the ATP World Tour, for which it outbid Sky, UK's Guardian reports.

NEW DELHI: The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has sought the inclusion of  in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme, keeping next year’s Asian Games in mind.  On Tuesday, AITA asked for top women’s singles player Ankita Raina and three men’s players to be included in the list. Veteran player Leander Paes has however been left out of the list.
