Rafael Benitez Presents the Art of Management at Soccerex European Forum

Soccerex are thrilled to announce that Rafael Benitez, one of Europe’s most successful football managers, will be speaking on ‘The Art of Management’ at this year’s Soccerex European Forum in Manchester, 28-29th March.

“Rafa” has one of the most illustrious careers in football management.  His management capabilities first came to prominence at Valencia FC, 2001-2004.  During his tenure he guided the club to their first Liga title in thirty-one years.  Two years later, in 2003, Valencia repeated their Liga success and that same season lifted the UEFA Cup.

Following his achievements at Valencia, Benitez took the role of manager at Liverpool FC where, in 2005, he led the club to a UEFA Champions League victory in probably one of football’s most memorable tournament finals; in doing so, Benitez became only the third manager in history (after Bob Paisley and José Mourinho) to win the UEFA Cup and UEFA Champions League in successive seasons. The following season Liverpool built on their success by winning the FA Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the FA Community Shield.  Benitez left Liverpool in 2010 and took the role of Head Coach at Inter Milan. Benitez won his first trophy as manager of the club when the side defeated AS Roma 3-1 for the Italian Super Cup; later that year Inter won the FIFA Club World Cup.

The ‘Art of Management’ will see Benitez disclose inside secrets on what it takes to produce success on the pitch including training tactics, mental preparation, analysis and much more.  The session will be moderated by Guillem Balague.  Guillem is a Sky Sports Spanish football expert and a regular pundit on Sky Sports' show Revista de la Liga; has also written for some of Britain's newspapers as well as several popular Spanish newspapers.

‘Mr Benitez is one of the most successful managers of recent times, his record speaks for itself! It is a huge honour having him speak at Soccerex on ‘The Art of Management’ …an art which he has definitely perfected during his career!’ said Duncan Revie, Soccerex CEO.

In addition to the ‘Art of Management,’ the Soccerex conference programme will include sessions on UEFA’s centralization of media rights, player and coach development with regard to Financial Fair Play and the new Elite Player Performance Plan, betting in football with consideration on the issue of match fixing, club ownership and financial management with regard to Financial Fair Play, the changing landscape of football sponsorship and a session looking at the turbulent relationship between football and the media.

Delegates attending this year’s event will benefit from a packed exhibition showcasing the latest industry products and services. There will also be a host of informal and formal networking opportunities for delegates to maximise the business opportunities available and enjoy the unique atmosphere Soccerex events create.
