Amicus Curiae

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday appointed senior lawyer Maninder Singh the new amicus curiae in the case relating to the Board of Control for Cricket in India's petition seeking the abolition of the cooling-off clause from its constitution.

The amendments sought are essentially to allow Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah, BCCI president and secretary respectively, and other office bearers to stay in power until 2025.

NEW DELHI: A series of meetings between various state units of the BCCI and the Supreme Court-appointed amicus curiae, PS Narasimha on Wednesday, gave little hope to the associations wanting their way, The Hindu reports. The meetings were held ahead of the Supreme Court hearing on Thursday on matters related to the implementation of the Lodha Committee recommendations.

NEW DELHI: Amicus Curiae Gopal Subramanium, guiding the Supreme Court in implementation of the Justice Lodha Committee reforms by the Board of Control for Cricket in India and its full members, has brushed off most of BCCI's objections raised in its petition before the apex court, agreeing to only one amendment.
