NEW DELHI: The Union Sports Ministry, faced with the less than flattering optics around the country's top wrestlers resuming their sit-in protest here on Sunday in the wake of the apathetic handling of their grievances, on Monday cancelled the elections of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), that were scheduled for May 7.
The ministry further directed the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to constitute an ad-hoc committee to conduct the polls within 45 days of its formation and also manage day-to-day affairs of the WFI.
