MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) will remain host broadcaster for UEFA club competitions for a further three seasons as the network has renewed its long-running media rights contract with Europe's governing body till 2023-24.

While the official announcement is still awaited, the network has been running UEFA Champions League advertising promos on its sports channels alongside its coverage of the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics, for which it is the host broadcaster.

MUMBAI: The rise of streaming is bringing major sporting events to a global audience and pushing up media rights revenues. This will drive media sport rights revenues up 75% over the period 2018 till 2025 from $48.6 billion to $85.1 billion, according to a study from Rethink TV, the specialist video forecasting arm of Rethink Technology Research.

MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India Private Limited (SPN) has acquired the exclusive media rights for Rugby World Cup 2019 from the Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL).  The tournament will be held in Japan from 20th September to 2nd November and telecast in India live and exclusive on the SONY TEN 2 channels and will be livestreamed on SPN’s premium video on demand (VOD) service, SonyLIV.

SINGAPORE: Content Arena, the recently launched B2B marketplace for sports media rights, has appointed Lasse Eckartsberg as the new director of Business Development.  Eckartsberg joined the team on February 1 and will work closely with the co-founders Sascha Kojic and Erik Lorenz on the development of partnerships with rights holders and buyers.
