Nazara picks up stake in fantasy platform HalaPlay

CHENNAI: Mumbai-based Nazara Games has picked up a  32 per cent stake in HalaPlay, a fantasy sports platform, along with Kae Capital.

HalaPlay offers users a platform to create a team, enter leagues and win cash prizes at the end of every game on the web and mobile on a daily basis. Using data analytics and machine learning, the startup helps players create teams, analyse playing behaviour and improve their fantasy skills.

Shubhankar Bhattacharya, venture partner at Kae Capital said,"Fantasy sports is a very large market with proven consumer demand and acceptance."

HalaPlay CEO and co founder Swapnil Saurav said, "Daily fantasy sports platform is an emerging trend of interactive entertainment. We are on a quest to build the world's best daily fantasy sports platform and Kae Capital and Nazara's contribution will give us the requisite impetus to do so."
