2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday said that the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) ombudsman Justice (retd) DK Jain will decide the quantum of punishment for cricket S Sreesanth for his alleged involvement in the infamous IPL 2013 spot-fixing scandal.

Last month, the Supreme Court had set aside the life ban imposed on the former India fast bowler by the Indian cricket board. The top court asked the BCCI ombudsman to reconsider the quantum of punishment within three months.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday set aside the life ban imposed on former Indian cricketer S Sreesanth by the Board of Control of Cricket in India for his alleged involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal. A Bench comprising justices Ashok Bhushan and KM Joseph said the disciplinary committee of the BCCI may reconsider within three months the quantum of punishment to be given to Sreesanth.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has listed for final hearing the appeal of banned cricketer S Sreesanth challenging a Kerala High Court verdict restoring the life ban imposed on him by the BCCI in the wake of the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal. “Let the appeal be listed for final hearing after eight weeks,” PTI quotes a Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud as having ruled.
