PARIS: The Tour de France has become the lastest sporting event pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. The iconic endurance cycling race will now take place from August 29 to September 20, organisers announced on Wednesday, instead of its originally scheduled start of June 27.
The new dates, the latest ever for the Tour founded in 1903, follow French President Emmanuel Macron's extension on Monday of a ban on public gatherings until mid-July in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
