MUMBAI: Five years after the Buddh International Circuit hosted its last Formula 1 race in 2013, India's link to F1 is all but over with the announcement Saturday that the Force India name will be replaced by Racing Point on next season’s grid, following official confirmation of the team’s rebranding for 2019.

Tata Communications, F1's Official Connectivity Provider, is the only Indian link remaining to the world's most expensive and glamorous sport.

The partnership will result in a significant livery change to incorporate the colours of Rich Energy, while the team name will become Rich Energy Haas F1 Team.

LONDON: FIA, the governing body of world motorsport confirmed on Thursday that the embattled duo of Vijay Mallya and Subrata Roy have completed the sale of Formula One team Force India and its assets to a consortium of investors called Racing Point UK Limited, led by Canadian business tycoon Lawrence Stroll.

LONDON: Luxury car maker McLaren Group announced that Nidala (BVI) Limited will be injecting equity capital of $273 million to purchase 888,135 ordinary shares in the company. The proceeds for the new capital will be received over the coming year.

MUMBAI: A name change is on the cards, but whether Force India will be rechristened Force One for the 2018 season remains to be seen. The moniker Force One is now unlikely to be used following concern it would too closely resemble Formula 1 and can be abbreviated to F1, says a Sky Sports report.

SUZUKA, Japan: Sahara Force India registered yet another double points finish after Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez signed off at creditable sixth and seventh place respectively at the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix here on Sunday. By virtue of this show, Sahara Force India collected 14 points from the race and consolidated its fourth position at the Constructor’s standings with 147 points.
