Indian Chess League

NEW DELHI: The game-changing Indian Chess League, boasting of the world’s and India’s top players, will be held in June 2022, with the prize money stipulated to be ‘at least Rs 2 crores’, the the All-India Chess Federation revealed here on Tuesday.

The format of the tournament, which has been in the works for the last couple of years, will be Rapid and Blitz with a double round-robin set-up.

The first of its kind 6-team franchise model event will take place over two weeks in one or two Indian cities. The top two teams will clash in the finals.

NEW DELHI: The newly elected office-bearers of the All India Chess Federation (AICF) have announced some big plans, including an Indian Chess League and a schools programme. The ‘vision document’ of the AICF was released following the Annual General Body Meeting attended by 33 state units.
