Gian Carlo Minardi

LONDON: Gian Carlo Minardi, founder of the eponymous Formula 1 outfit now known as AlphaTauri, has been elected to the role of president of the FIA's Single-Seater Commission.

Minardi, who in 2004 became president of the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) Land Speed Records Commission, was voted in by members of the World Motor Sport Council. In 2020 he was elected president of the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari – Imola – which hosts the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on April 24.
