Khelo India Winter Games

JAMMU: Athletes from 27 states and Union Territories are competing in the second Khelo India Winter Games, which kicked off in Gulmarg on Friday.

The Games, which will conclude on March 2, were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via a virtual address. "This is a step towards making India's presence felt in the international winter games arena and also make Jammu and Kashmir a hub of winter sports," Modi said.

The disciplines in competition at the Games include alpine skiing, nordic ski, snowboarding, ski mountaineering, ice hockey, and ice skating, among others.

NEW DELHI: The first-ever Khelo India Winter Games in the Union Territory of Ladakh at Leh, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir was flagged off Tuesday by Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju.  The event is being organised to promote winters ports in India and to popularise these games among the youth of the country.

NEW DELHI: The Union Sports Ministry is set to organise the first-ever Khelo India Winter Games in Ladakh in the third week of February and in Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of March.
