NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

MUMBAI: The Indian Premier League governing council Tuesday announced digital brokerage firm Upstox as the fifth official partner for the IPL, which will begin on April 9th.  This will be a multi-year partnership, the IPL GC confirmed.  It bears noting that Upstox has already taken a position on the IPL, signing up with Disney+ Hotstar, the IPL's official streaming partner, as a "co-powered by" sponsor.

MUMBAI: The BCCI has decided to add to new franchises to the Indian Premier League from the 2022 season, the auction for which will be held in May.  BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah and other board members reportedly held a meeting on Saturday to chart out a plan of action for the new teams.

The series, comprising five matches, kicks off with the first game at 7 pm on Friday, and the final fixture slated to be played on March 20.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board and the franchises, the PSL Governing Council, are aiming to reschedule the remaining 20 HBL Pakistan Super League 6 matches to June in Karachi.  This was unanimously agreed by the six franchise owners and the PCB in a virtual meeting held on Thursday afternoon and after taking into consideration all factors relating to event organisation.
