AIFF rejects Premier 1 license of 4 clubs for 2024-25 season

The All Indian Football Federation announced the Premier 1 club licensing results for the 2024-25 season on Thursday. 

Punjab FC is the only club to have received a direct license.

Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 champion Mohun Bagan Super Giant and ISL Cup champion Mumbai City FC received the license with sanctions. Joining them in this category is Kolkata giant East Bengal, FC Goa, Bengaluru FC, Chennaiyin FC, NorthEast United FC and Mohammedan Sporting, which was promoted to the ISL after it won the I-League this season.

India aboard as Pak to host Asia Cup at neutral venue
KOLKATA: Pakistan, technically the hosts of the next Asia Cup, have agreed to "host" the tournament at a neutral venue. That was the condition the "Big Daddy" of world cricket India set for participating in the biennial tournament. "Asia Cup will be held in Dubai and both India and Pakistan will play," BCCI president Sourav Ganguly told reporters at the Eden Gardens on Friday.

BCCI clarifies on IPL fan parks RFP
MUMBAI: The BCCI has issued clarifications to the "Request for Proposal for The Right And Obligation to stage IPL fan parks" it had uploaded on February 18. At the time it had invited bids, it had stated: "Interested parties can seek clarification related to the RFP till February 25 by 12:00 pm (IST) and the deadline for proposal submission is March 2 by 11am."

ABU DHABI: Sports officials in the Emirates have canceled the final two stages of UAE Tour cycling event has been cancelled with two stages remaining after two Italian "staff members" tested positive for coronavirus. "Two Italian staff members of one of the teams participating in the UAE Tour have tested positive for the coronavirus," the UAE Tour declared on Twitter.

Rajasthan Royals to play 2 home games in Guwahati
MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati will play host to two home games of Indian Premier League franchise Rajasthan Royals in the VIVO IPL 2020.  They will now play Delhi Capitals & Kolkata Knight Riders on April 5th & April 9th respectively in Guwahati. Both games will have an 8 PM IST start.
