BHUBANESWAR: Dana Reizniece Ozola, FIDE management board deputy chair and Latvia's former minister of finance & economics, had a discussion with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to promote chess and commended the state's initiatives in nurturing young chess talent.

Patnaik and Reizniece-Ozola emphasized the need to popularize chess as a mind-sport and its immense potential to empower the youth intellectually and emotionally.

CHENNAI: The All India Chess Federation (AICF) will pass on to the players and others the benefit of any fee reduction implemented by the global chess body FIDE, IANS reports. "We will surely pass on the benefit fee reduction by FIDE to the players," AICF secretary Bharat Singh Chauhan told IANS.
