Lodha committee

MUMBAI: Administrators representing about 20 state units affiliated to  the Board of Control for Cricket in India held a special meeting on Friday to formulate a common strategy ahead of a decisive (hopefully?) Supreme Court hearing on 17 January. 

The chief architect of the meeting was reportedly N Srinivasan, former chairman of ICC and former president of BCCI, the veteran cricket administrator whose reign as the most powerful figure in the game was ended by the very same Supreme Court.

NEW DELHI: Those enisted on BCCI's panel of commentators will likely have to sign an undertaking that they don't have any 'conflict of interest' as per the recommendations by the Lodha Panel. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Murali Kartik and Harsha Bhogle, who is returning after a fall out with the BCCI post World T20 in 2016, have reportedly been short listed.

NEW DELHI: The BCCI's member associations' opinions are being sought by the Law Commission of India (LCI) as it examines the possibility of legalising betting in the country. The LCI's recommendations will then be reviewed by the Supreme Court.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) Wednesday sent an email to all 30 affiliated units of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, asking them to provide a list of "all their respective constituent members".  The CoA further wrote that a reply to the email must be sent by the state associations on or before 5pm on August 8.

MUMBAI: Financial services firm Deloitte has stated that when computing share of revenues for players from income generated by Board of Control for Cricket in India, P&L's from the BCCI's cash cow - Indian Premier League — cannot be included.

After using its financial might and monopoly on the game's administration to throttle all attempts by players to form a representative association over the years, the Supreme Court's intervention means that this will soon become a reality, as is the case in the rest of the cricketing world.

KANPUR: Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association secretary Rajiv Shukla and five other office bearers on Thursday stepped down from their respective positions following a  working committee meeting of the state unit here.  The resignations were a consequence of their being rendered ineligible as per the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha panel's recommendations.
