NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

MUMBAI: Discovery Communications branded sports channel DSport will broadcast the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018. According to an official statement, DSport will air the 34 matches of the third edition of the T20 competition in Pakistan scheduled to begin on 23 February 2018. PSL will see participation from six teams including debutant Multan Sultans.

MUMBAI: The two-judge Bench of the Kerala High Court on Tuesday restored the life ban imposed on cricketer S Sreesanth him by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), overturning an earlier decision by a single judge Bench to lift the ban. The BCCI had filed a fresh appeal in the Kerala HC on 18 September, challenging the lifting of the ban.

Last month, the Supreme Court had pulled up the Indian board for delays in implementing the recommendations of the Lodha committee.

NEW DELHI: The Sports Ministry's diktat, that the Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) and Services Sports Control Board (SSCB), be deprived of voting rights since both are government bodies and this would interfere with the 'one state, one vote' credo of the National Sports Development Code of 2011, has not gone down well with either the Services or the Railways.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand: The ICC Friday gave the green light to a nine-team Test league and a 13-team ODI league aimed at bringing context and meaning to bilateral cricket in the wake of the rapid growth of franchise based Twenty20 leagues. The schedules of the Test and ODI leagues, due to start in 2019 and 2020 respectively, will now be finalised.
