CHENNAI (June 02): The 44th Chess Olympiad is all set to hit the record books as the highest number of countries and teams have registered for the world’s biggest chess event scheduled in Mahabalipuram, Chennai from July 28 to August 10.

The historic event, which will be conducted in India for the first-time ever, has so far attracted entries of 343 teams in the open and women’s section from 187 countries from all over the globe.

NEW DELHI: The Chess Players Forum (CPF) has appealed to the Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju alleging the All India Chess Federation (AICF) was not adhering to the clauses of the National Sports Development Code, a mandatory functioning guideline to be adopted by all the National Sports Federations.

CHENNAI: The All India Chess Federation (AICF) will pass on to the players and others the benefit of any fee reduction implemented by the global chess body FIDE, IANS reports. "We will surely pass on the benefit fee reduction by FIDE to the players," AICF secretary Bharat Singh Chauhan told IANS.

KOLKATA: India is all set to host its first ever world event in chess as the tournament is set to take place at one of the cultural hubs in the city, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, from 9 to 14 November. It has also confirmed Tata Steel as its principal sponsor and will be known as ‘Tata Steel Chess India’.
