BARCELONA: La Liga champions FC Barcelona have renewed their contact with Samba Financial Group, one of the top financial services companies in the Middle East, till June 2023.  In 2013, Samba FG became the club’s first sponsor in Saudi Arabia, and since then, the relationship between the two organizations has been profitable for both, paving the way for a five-season extension of the agreement.

MUMBAI: Premier League giants Manchester United have dismissed reports linking the club with a potential takeover from Saudi Arabia. Shares in the club surged by over 5% Monday following a report published by UK's The Sun tabloid that crown prince Mohammed bin Salman and de facto ruler of the autocratic state was considering a bid of around £3 billion for the club.

NEW YORK: WWE has removed the "Crown Jewel" pay-per-view show, scheduled for November 2 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from its calendar of events, as the disappearance of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a former insider turned dissident, continues to unravel. The WWE has not made a formal announcement or statement in regard to the event, however.

DOHA: Qatar's global sports and entertainment media group, beIN Corporation (beIN), Monday launched an international investment arbitration against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for damages totalling more than $1 billion, over not just “state-sponsored broadcast piracy” of sporting events but also for "having been unlawfully driven out of the Saudi market".

LONDON: Ahead of its fifth season, Formula E announced on Tuesday that Saudia (formerly known as Saudi Arabian Airlines) will be its official airline partner as per a new long-term partnership deal. Saudia is owned by the government of Saudi Arabia, the country in which the first race of the new season will be held on 15 December this year.
