ASTANA (Kazakhstan): Reigning world champion Nikhat Zareen registered a sensational 5-0 win over Kazakhstan’s Tomiris Myrzakul to enter the women’s 52kg final at the Elorda Cup 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan on Thursday.    

Besides Nikhat, Minakshi (48kg), Anamika (50kg) and Manisha (60kg) also made their ways into the finals comfortably.

Minakshi and Manisha put up similar dominating displays in their semi-finals to grab a 5-0 unanimous victories against Kazakh boxers Gulnaz Buribayeva and Tangatar Assem respectively.

LAUSANNE: Spectators will be allowed at next month's 2021 Men’s World Boxing Championships in Serbia, the International Boxing Association (AIBA) announced on Monday, making it the first major event in the sport to welcome back fans since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

LAUSANNE: For the first time in AIBA’s 75-year history, medal winners at the forthcoming Men’s World Boxing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia will be rewarded with significant prize money from AIBA. The prize money fund has been set at $2.6 million. The prize for first place is $100,000. Silver medalists receive $50,000, and both Bronzes in each weight category receive $25,000.

NEW DELHI: The World Boxing Council, its board of governors, and WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman Thursday announced the formation of the WBC India committee, in collaboration with the Indian Boxing Council, as the WBC’s strategic governing body and ally in India. It bears noting that the governing body of the sport in India, as recognised by the Union Sports Ministry, is the Boxing Federation of India.
