Red Bull confirms chief designer Adrian Newey to step down

Red Bull have announced that Adrian Newey is to leave the team, with the esteemed F1 designer departing after almost 20 years at Milton Keynes.

Newey joined Red Bull ahead of their second F1 season in 2006 and has been instrumental in the squad’s success over the years, helping to turn the operation from midfield runners and points scorers into Grand Prix winners and world champions.

LONDON: On the eve of the new season, F1 has launched the #WeRaceAsOne initiative, aimed at tackling the biggest issues facing the sport and global communities – the fight against COVID-19 and the condemnation of racism and inequality. During the race weekend in Austria, teams and F1 partners will be saying "thank you" to key workers and individuals by displaying rainbows on cars and around the circuit.

Hamilton to launch commission to improve diversity in motorsport
LONDON: Reigning Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has announced the launch of The Hamilton Commission, a new research partnership aimed at making motorsport “as diverse as the complex and multicultural world we live in”. The announcement comes amid global protests around the world in support of Black Lives Matter, a campaign which Hamilton – the first black superstar in F1 history - has vocally supported.

Formula E season resumes with six-race Berlin showdown
LONDON: The historic German airfield has been chosen to close out the current season of the FIA Formula E Championship, hosting three double-headers in quick succession on August 5/6, 8/9 and 12/13.  Formula E had already completed five races before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Red Bull extends long-running sponsor deals with Dorna
MADRID: Dorna Sports has announced an extension to its partnership with energy drink major Red Bull.  The agreement will see Red Bull title sponsor both the 2020 Gran Premio de España and 2020 Gran Premio de Andalucía, which are set to take place at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto from the 17th to the 19th of July and the 24th to the 26th of July, respectively.

F1 confirm 2020 Azerbaijan, S'pore, Japanese GPs cancelled
LONDON: The 2020 Azerbaijan, Singapore and Japanese Grands Prix have been cancelled in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Formula 1 has confirmed. Earlier this month the opening eight races of a revised calendar for the 2020 season were announced, beginning with the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in the first weekend of July.
