The All India Chess Federation (AICF) is assessing the possibility of hosting the World Chess Championship in India with the 17-year-old chess Grandmaster (GM) D. Gukesh qualifying to challenge world champion China's GM Ding Liren.

The match will be played in November. Hosting rights will be awarded by FIDE, the world body, through a bidding process.

NEW DELHI: The first-ever Khelo India Winter Games in the Union Territory of Ladakh at Leh, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir was flagged off Tuesday by Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju.  The event is being organised to promote winters ports in India and to popularise these games among the youth of the country.

LONDON: The Commonwealth Games Federation has approved a plan for a Commonwealth Archery and Shooting Championships to be held in Chandigarh in January 2022. It comes after neither sport was approved as an optional addition to the programme of the next Commonwealth Games, which is scheduled to take place from 27 July to 7 August 2022 in Birmingham, Great Britain.
