NEW DELHI: The ruling BJP and opposition Congress have fielded two high profile sports stars (one retired and the other still in the game) from different constituencies in the national capital.

While the BJP fielded retired cricketer Gautam Gambhir from the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, the Congress picked Olympic Bronze medal winning boxer Vijender Singh to fight for the party from the South Delhi constituency.

NEW DELHI: The main opposition Indian National Congress (INC) on Tuesday released its election manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections. Titled “Congress Will Deliver”, the 53-page manifesto released by party president Rahul Gandhi has a detailed plan of action under six categories. Among the key issues, Sports has also found a place in the document.

MUMBAI: BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary on Monday said the board is trying its best to ensure all matches of the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League take place in the country. The dates and venues of the IPL have not been announced yet as the BCCI is awaiting the schedule of the 2019 general elections as they would definitely clash with the cash awash Twenty20 tournament.

NEW DELHI: Gautam Gambhir looks to have his post retirement plans in place with politics being his next port of call. The former Indian opening batsman is likely to seek a ticket from the national ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest the next Lok Sabha elections from the city itself in 2019, Dainik Jagaran reports.
