NEW DELHI: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Thursday appointed one of its vice presidents and Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) president Birendra Baishya as the Chef de Mission for India’s Tokyo 2020 campaign.
"It is for the first time that the sport of weightlifting has been accorded with honour of Chef de Mission for the Olympic Games," IWF secretary Sahdev Yadav said in a statement.

TOKYO: The organisers of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020 introduced both the events’ mascots at a special naming ceremony in the Japanese capital on Sunday.
The mascots were decided following a voting process across Japanese schools globally and 75% of elementary schools in Japan between December 2017 and February 2018.
