The World Badminton Federation has awarded hosting rights for the next edition of the Thomas & Uber Cup Finals and World Junior Championships to Denmark and India respectively.

As already reported, Guwahati’s newly christened National Centre of Excellence will host the World Junior Championships 2025. As for the Thomas & Uber Cup Finals, they have been awarded to the Danish city of Horsens.

It is just the second time that Denmark will stage the BWF World Men’s and Women’s Team Championships following Aarhus in 2021.

BANGKOK: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced on Saturday that there will be no changes in the 3×21 (three games to 21 points) scoring system during any authorized match. The BWF Council’s proposal to change to five games to 11 points did not receive the required two-thirds majority during voting at the BWF’s annual general meeting in the Thai capital.

NEW DELHI: The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has signed a contract worth Rs. 75 crore with sports equipment maker Yonex Sunrise, the PTI reports. As part of the deal, Yonex will supply equipments for all BAI-accredited tournaments, camps and academies in India in exchange of holding title sponsorship rights for all BAI tournaments for the next 3 years.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has formulated a no-parents policy for the upcoming Asian Games, to be held in Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September.  This decision will be communicated to all IOA-affiliated sports associations.

NEW DELHI: The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has awarded cash incentives totalling Rs 13 million to members of the Indian badminton contingent that won medals at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. At a ceremony in the capital, BAI president Himanta Biswas Sarma and chief guest of the event, Indian Olympic Association president Narinder Batra presented all the cheques.

PANAJI: Himanta Biswa Sarma was elected president of Badminton Association of India during its annual general body meeting here. Sarma, a cabinet minister of the ruling BJP in Assam, was elected unopposed for a term four-year term. He took over as the interim president of the BAI last year after the demise of Akhilesh Das Gupta.

State chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu handed over the appointment letter to him in Amravati last Thursday in the presence of former All-England champion and celebrated badminton coach Pullela Gopichand, ANI reports.
