The World Badminton Federation has awarded hosting rights for the next edition of the Thomas & Uber Cup Finals and World Junior Championships to Denmark and India respectively.

As already reported, Guwahati’s newly christened National Centre of Excellence will host the World Junior Championships 2025. As for the Thomas & Uber Cup Finals, they have been awarded to the Danish city of Horsens.

It is just the second time that Denmark will stage the BWF World Men’s and Women’s Team Championships following Aarhus in 2021.

NEW DELHI: A week after the Equestrian Federation of India sent a letter to the Sports Ministry, asking to be exempt from certain provisions of the National Sports Code, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday reiterated in the Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament) that all national sports federations (NSFs) will have to adhere to the code.

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia's former world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei has announced his retirement from professional badminton after an illustrious 19-year career. The decision did not come as a surprise, having been reported by the Malaysian media last week. It also follows on from Lee’s battle with nose cancer last year, which kept him out of the World Championships.

The Delhi High Court, in a strongly worded judgment, has set aside "the arbitrary, illegal and unethical appointment of friends and family members" by Ashok Singh, president, Delhi Capital Badminton Association, to fill six key posts of the DCBA executive committee.

JAMSHEDPUR: The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has appointed K Prabhakar Rao, secretary of Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA) as chairman of Para Badminton India. In a letter dated 4th April, BAI president Himanta Biswa Sarma has made the announcement appointing K Prabhakar Rao, who is also the joint secretary of BAI, as the chairman of Para Badminton India.
