Red Bull confirms chief designer Adrian Newey to step down

Red Bull have announced that Adrian Newey is to leave the team, with the esteemed F1 designer departing after almost 20 years at Milton Keynes.

Newey joined Red Bull ahead of their second F1 season in 2006 and has been instrumental in the squad’s success over the years, helping to turn the operation from midfield runners and points scorers into Grand Prix winners and world champions.

Moto2 clutch supplier extends, deepens commitment
MADRID: MotoGP commercial rights holder Dorna Sports has announced that FCC will remain as clutch supplier for the Moto2 World Championship, with a new three-year agreement signed for 2019 to 2021.  The company entered the intermediate class in 2013 and this renewal means FCC remain on board as Moto2 begins a new era; strengthening their commitment to Championship.

Nascar launches esports series
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.: North American stock-car racing series Nascar, Race Team Alliance and 704Games have announced a collaboration that will create the first-ever Nascar esports league on consoles, eNascar Heat Pro League.  The newly formed esports league will feature up to 16 race teams and 32 drivers, each owned and operated by prominent Nascar race teams.

FIA approves 21-race calendar for F1 in 2019
MUMBAI: Motorsport's world governing body FIA has approved Formula One’s 21-race calendar for 2019. FIA's World Motor Sport Council, which met in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, confirmed that that 11 races would be held in Europe, five in Asia, four in the Americas and one in Australia. The season will start one week earlier and finish one week later.

Mexican GP drew maximum TV audience in 2018 for F1: Nielsen
LONDON: Formula 1 has had a mixed year of 2018 off-the-track. With the end of the season on Sunday in Abu Dhabi not considered, global sports marketing research firm Nielsen reports that television audiences have been predominantly the same as 2017, which stands at 1.3 billion across the globe.
