Red Bull confirms chief designer Adrian Newey to step down

Red Bull have announced that Adrian Newey is to leave the team, with the esteemed F1 designer departing after almost 20 years at Milton Keynes.

Newey joined Red Bull ahead of their second F1 season in 2006 and has been instrumental in the squad’s success over the years, helping to turn the operation from midfield runners and points scorers into Grand Prix winners and world champions.

MUMBAI: Indian motorsport is reportedly taking a second shot at introducing an IPL-templated event to the country. Nominally titled Xtreme1 Racing League (X1), eight teams will compete in races at both track and street circuits in three cities later this year, Times of India reports.

Mallya quits as Force India director; son to take his place
LONDON: Fugitive Indian businessman Vijay Mallya announced his resignation on Thursday as the director of Sahara Force India, but will continue to serve in the capacity of a shareholder and the team principal of the Formula 1 team.  Mallya is facing legal issues in the United Kingdom, which is reportedly one of the reasons behind the decision.

Formula 1 launches official fan site ‘F1 Fan Voice’
LONDON: Formula 1 extended its string of innovations this season, announcing on Friday the launch of F1 Fan Voice, an online initiative for fans to share their views about the sport and suggestions.  It can be on the website www.f1fanvoice.com through surveys, polls, forums and blogs. The idea is built behind bringing the management closer to the fans, hearing their thoughts out to take well-informed decisions.

F1 TV to showcase pre-1981 archived footage
LONDON: All the subscribers of Formula 1's OTT streaming service - F1 TV - will have an opportunity to gain access to footage covering the history of the sport from the 1970s and early 1980s.  According to a report in f1i.com, Formula 1 will acquire the footage from well-known production company Brunswick. The events were filmed by a local broadcaster earlier and FOM's own TV production crews from 2001 onwards.

LONDON: Formula 1 team McLaren announced on Sunday a multi-year partnership agreement with online brokerage firm, FxPro.  The McLaren MCL33 will feature prominent FxPro branding, highlighting the company’s reputation as the best in their business. Over 250 million orders have been executedand up to 7000 orders are processed each second at FxPro.

SAP to drive new tech innovation for Mercedes Formula E
WALLDORF:  German software company SAP SE, the announced on Tuesday a new multiyear agreement with Mercedes-Benz, making them the official business performance partner of the automaker’s Formula E team.  This partnership is expected to drive the co-innovation of new technology. Mercedes will make its debut in Formula E in 2019.

LONDON: Luxury car maker McLaren Group announced that Nidala (BVI) Limited will be injecting equity capital of $273 million to purchase 888,135 ordinary shares in the company. The proceeds for the new capital will be received over the coming year.

Formula E seals 10-yr deal for Riyadh race
