Red Bull have announced that Adrian Newey is to leave the team, with the esteemed F1 designer departing after almost 20 years at Milton Keynes.

Newey joined Red Bull ahead of their second F1 season in 2006 and has been instrumental in the squad’s success over the years, helping to turn the operation from midfield runners and points scorers into Grand Prix winners and world champions.

PARIS: MotoGP commercial rights holder Dorna Sports has announced a five-year contract extension with PHA and Claude Michy to continue organising the French Grand Prix, securing the future of the event for a further five years, until 2026.   This season marks 25 years of PHA management of the French GP.

MUMBAI: Formula 1 announced on Wednesday two new initiatives that will enhance the experience of fans attending races.  In the first, Formula 1 have partnered with FanVision Entertainment to create F1 Vision, the most immersive spectator technology, which allows Grand Prix attendees to dive deeper into the event experience with a state-of-the-art handheld device.

MUMBAI: Alejandro Agag, the CEO and founder of Formula E, has reportedly made a €600 million ($716 million) bid to gain the entire ownership of the electric racing series, according to motorsport.com. Agag wrote a letter on Friday to the chairman of the board of directors, requesting approval for his interest so that he has greater influence over running the sport in the future.

LONDON: Formula One has confirmed plans to stage a street race Grand Prix race in downtown Miami in 2019 with a vote scheduled next week by the City of Miami Commission on a proposal to formalize plans for a 10-year deal. A Miami race would be the second in the US, joining the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas and the the fourth in North America, joining races in Canada and Mexico City.

LONDON: MotoGP commercial rights holder Dorna Sports has announced GoPro as title sponsor for the British GP in 2018, with the camera company taking top billing at the event to name it the GoPro British Grand Prix.  Set for the 24th–26th August, the race weekend will once again take place at the stunning Silverstone Circuit – its home since 2010.

LONDON: Motorsport's governing body has given a go-ahead to the rule changes that have been proposed in order to increase overtaking and promote closer racing in Formula One.  Following a presentation made to the F1 teams at the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Strategy Group, the F1 Commission and the World Motor Sport Council have approved a number of regulation changes for the 2019 season.
