The second season of the GlobalSports Pro & Challenger Pickleball League has been announced.
Building on the success of its inaugural season in February, the league is set to bring together the finest pickleball talent, with players selected through an auction-based drafting format.
Season 2 of the GlobalSports Pro & Challenger League is set to take place from December 16 to 23. As India’s pickleball scene continues to grow, this tournament is poised to solidify its place as one of the premier events in the sport.
The league's prize pool is significant, with each Pro team receiving a purse of $62,500 and Challenger teams receiving $12,500. This reinforces the league's commitment to fostering talent and providing a competitive platform for players.
With 75 Pro and 75 Challenger players shortlisted, the auction will take place in July/August, ensuring a highly competitive draft where 5 players per team (comprising pro & challenger players) will be selected.
The league is also introducing a "Grand Slam of Pickleball", further elevating the sport’s presence in India.
Shashank Khaitan, partner, Global Sports said, "Pickleball is growing at an unprecedented pace in India, and with the Global Sports Pro & Challenger League coming back at the end of the year, we are creating a world-class platform for athletes to showcase their skills. This league is not just about competition; it’s about building a thriving ecosystem for pickleball in the country and giving Indian players the opportunity to be recognized on a global stage."
With its fast-paced gameplay, inclusive appeal, and growing global recognition, pickleball is poised to become a major force in the country’s sporting landscape, and GlobalSports aims to promote the sport in the country in their quest to nurture the best established and upcoming talent.
