Sony, Natekar Sports to invest $10m+ in World Pickleball League

MUMBAI: India’s growing reputation as a potential racquet sports hub is all set to get a massive boost with the launch of the World Pickleball League (WPBL), the first-ever professional pickleball league, envisaged by Natekar Sports and Gaming (NSG) and Sony Entertainment Talent Ventures India (SETVI).

NSG, is a company promoted by ‘former Davis Cup star and Arjuna Awardee Gaurav Natekar and his wife, ‘Arati Ponnappa Natekar, also a former India #1 in Tennis. SETVI is a joint venture between Sony Music Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Volvo Ocean Race adds Melbourne to 2017-18 route
ALICENTE, Spain: The Volvo Ocean Race will give sports fans an extra Christmas present in 2017 after adding Melbourne to the route for the forthcoming edition starting in October. The change to the 2017-18 route, announced on Friday morning in Melbourne, means the Race will visit Australia for the eighth time – but for the first in more than a decade.

OSN scores UFC t'cast rights for MENA

Mastercard to deepen sports engagement in India
MELBOURNE: Mastercard is planning to expand its sponsorship presence in India by getting involved in local sporting events.  The global financial transaction firm currently sponsors sports like golf and football in India.  Mastercard senior vice president, Marketing, Asia Pacific, Sam Ahmed told PTI: "We are assessing some local sports sponsorships and we are currently negotiating.
