COLOGNE: The Central European division of Universal Music Group (UMG) have announced a multi-year partnership with ESL Gaming, the world’s biggest eSports company that will be managed out of UMG’s Berlin headquarters.

The aim of the agreement is to exclusively help Universal discover and promote new artists through ESL’s global tournaments and channels. In an industry first, UMG will partner with ESL to create the ultimate destination for gaming and music fans alike to experience the official soundtrack of the world’s esports leagues and tournaments.

TOKYO: Japan’s largest e-commerce firm Rakuten Group has announced that it will be introducing the ‘smart stadiums’ concept involving completely cashless payments starting from the first home games of the 2019 season of its two owned teams, Tohoku Golden Eagles in Baseball and Vissel Kobe in football’s J-League. LONDON: British media company BT may have lost out on the broadcast rights of the English Premier League but will create history by showcasing a live sports event in 5G using remote production through its telecom subsidiary, EE.
