NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

MUMBAI: The England and Wales Cricket Board announced on Tuesday that the country would host the Indian cricket team in a five-match Test series in 2018. The teams will play three Twenty20 matches in July, followed by three one-day internationals and then Tests at Edgbaston, Lord’s, Trent Bridge, the Rose Bowl and The Oval. It will be India's second five-match series in England in 59 years.

MUMBAI: Star India has beaten all comers to secure the global media rights for the Indian Premier League for the next five years. Star's consolidated bid of Rs163.475 billion for the India TV, digital (internet and mobile) rights as well as the rest of the world rights was higher than the Rs158.19 billion bid that came through as a sum of the different parts bid by the other contenders.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India is yet to confirm dates for its South Africa tour in December this year. Cricket SA (CSA) president Chris Nenzani said it was frustrating that dates for India's summer tour have yet to be confirmed, the South African Sunday Times reported.
